Saturday/Sunday, August 2-3, 2014 – Roy and Gypsy were both pulled from Miami Dade and checked into the Dog House in Pompano Beach for vetting and staging for transport north to Maryfrances Betts, the ABMR coordinator in Maryland. This would be a long, 2 day, 14-leg transport, and with two dogs on board it would also limit us to drivers with vehicles large enough crate at least one of the dogs.

Our amazing transport team included drivers Eileen Burnell, Karen Alderson, Barbara Hoffman, Bea Moyer and Randy Thompson, Angela Maddux (who also overnighted Roy and Gypsy and drove 1st leg Sunday morning), Kirby Stewart (legs 7 and 8) Janet and Bill Fincannon (legs 9 and 10a), Sara Anderson (legs 10b and 11), Matthew Smith (a new driver with ABMR – welcome Matthew!), Elaine Asper and Maryfrances Betts.

Transport ran fairly well until the last few legs when we hit tremendous traffic for both Elaine who was headed northbound and Maryfrances headed southbound. But as always, they worked thru it and made alternate arrangements to meet. It was a very long day on Sunday for everybody. Maryfrances, Roy and Gypsy went visiting while waiting for the traffic to clear, but eventually they made it home to Maryland.

As of today, Roy is being fostered by Maryfrances and Gypsy has been ADOPTED!!! A huge thank you to everyone involved in rescuing Roy and Gypsy. Remarkable dogs – remarkable people!!
